Laughter (a poem)

Laughter seeps through the walls

intermittently sliding ‘neath the door,

Serenading the unheard story

unraveling in a distant room.

Laughter caps the ocean wave sounds

blending with soft music

as quiet breaths rise and fall inside

an envelope of sheets and blankets and warmth.

Laughter quietly accentuates

it does not interrupt.

An audible smile is catching,

Contagiously flowing from room to room.

Laughter seeps through the walls,

intermittently sliding ‘neath the door,

So quiet some moments,

bursting through at others.

Laughter never ruins the hour,

contagiously flowing from room to room,

Melding with the music,

blending beautifully into the background.

Laughter seeps through the walls …
